Sudoku
Fill the 9×9 grid so every row, column and 3×3 box holds the digits 1 to 9 exactly once.
What is Sudoku?
Sudoku needs no arithmetic, only logic. Each digit from 1 to 9 appears once in every row, once in every column and once in every 3×3 box, and the digits you are given pin down all the rest.
Every Calquest sudoku has exactly one solution. Conflicts turn red as you enter them, there is no clock, and the harder tiers simply start with fewer digits on the board.
How to play Sudoku
The aim: Fill the grid so every row, column and 3x3 box holds 1 to 9 exactly once.
- Pick a cell. Tap any empty cell. Cells matching the value you selected are shaded so duplicates are easy to spot.
- Enter a digit. Tap a number from the row underneath. The eraser clears the selected cell.
- Watch for red. A digit that breaks a row, column or box rule turns red immediately.
- Submit when full. The submit button unlocks once the grid is complete and free of conflicts.
How scoring works
- Harder tiers start with fewer given digits and pay more.
- There is no time pressure, so accuracy is everything.
How a round ends
Every puzzle has exactly one solution. A conflict-free full grid is always correct.
Skills it draws on
- Logical deduction
- Elimination
- Sustained concentration
