Minesweeper
Uncover every safe square, using the numbers to work out where the mines are.
What is Minesweeper?
Minesweeper is the classic deduction game. A number counts the mines in the eight squares around it; from that number and its neighbours you work out which squares are safe to open and which to flag.
Calquest pays for every safe square you uncover, so a field half cleared still scores, and clearing all of it pays a completion bonus on top.
How to play Minesweeper
The aim: Uncover every square that is not a mine.
- Tap to uncover. A number counts the mines in the eight squares around it. An empty square opens its neighbours automatically.
- Hold to flag. Press and hold a covered square to plant a flag. Flags are a note to yourself; they do not have to be right.
- Count, do not guess. A 1 already touching one flag has no mines left, so every other neighbour is safe to open.
How scoring works
- Every safe square you uncover pays, so a field half cleared still scores.
- Clearing the whole field pays a large completion bonus.
- Hitting a mine ends the round with whatever you had banked.
How a round ends
The round ends when every safe square is open, or when you hit a mine.
Skills it draws on
- Deduction
- Counting under constraints
- Knowing when not to guess
