Paper Fold
A sheet is folded and punched. Work out where every hole is once it is opened out.
What is Paper Fold?
Paper Fold is the classic spatial-reasoning test. A sheet is folded, a hole is punched through every layer, and you mark where the holes will be when the sheet is opened out. Undoing a fold mirrors each hole across its crease.
A mark that is not a hole cancels one that is, so covering the sheet scores nothing.
How to play Paper Fold
The aim: Mark every hole the sheet has once it is opened out.
- Folded, then punched. The small grid is the sheet after folding. A punch goes through every layer underneath it.
- Each crease doubles a hole. Undoing a fold mirrors every hole across the crease it made, so one punch through two layers is two holes.
- Mark the open sheet. Tap cells on the large grid to mark where you think the holes are. Tap again to unmark.
- Only mark what you are sure of. A mark that is not a hole cancels out one that is, so covering the sheet scores nothing.
How scoring works
- Every hole you place correctly pays.
- Every wrong mark cancels a correct one.
- Getting the sheet exactly right pays a completion bonus.
How a round ends
The round ends when you check the sheet.
Skills it draws on
- Spatial visualisation
- Symmetry
- Careful reasoning
